Fifty Shades of Grey – How I Survived THAT Movie

What do you get when you put two uncharismatic romantic leads in a film with an unrealistic plot and stilted dialogue?

A multi-million dollar blockbuster hit, of course.

Remember when that sparkly vampire film came out years before? A good segment of the public bitched about Twilight while the creator laughed all the way to the bank.

And it’s happening all over again; talk about history repeating itself.

Once again, women are dragging guys to a movie that, for the most part, is meant for the female demographic. And like before, the people behind the franchise are raking in serious stacks of dough.

Oh, and here’s a fun fact: Fifty Shades of Grey originally started out as Twilight fan fiction (i.e. when people write about their favorite characters and put them in situations beyond the original plot).

So, it’s no surprise that women are eating up Fifty Shades of Grey, especially since its roots go back to the same place.

As for me, I watched it just to see what the hype was about. Like Christian Grey told Anastasia Steele, “Try to keep an open mind.”

And that’s exactly what I did. Funny thing was, it wasn’t as bad as I’d expected it to be.

Sure, the performances were a bit wooden and there were some eye-rolling lines of dialogue. In spite of all of that, the film wasn’t without some important takeaways.

(And hey, Dakota Johnson certainly helped the movie’s visual appeal…if you catch my drift.)

As I sat through two hours of the movie, a few thoughts occurred to me:

#1: Dress to Impress

Christian Grey may not exist in real life, but he does know to how project that I’ve-got-my-act-together vibe to women.

However, you don’t have to be a multi-billionaire like him to make the ladies swoon. Whatever your job is, you need to give women the impression that you’re passionate, driven and self-sufficient.

And that starts with the packaging; so dress like a grown-ass man if you want women to take you seriously as an adult.

You don’t have to overdo it and dress like a trendy D-bag though. Ask your well-dressed friends, research online, consult with the sales clerks at your local men’s store and check out some men’s magazines.

Once you’ve upgraded your style and found a look that works for you, you’ve already taken a huge step in being more attractive to women.
